Health, Medicine and Treatment in early modern North India

Early Hindi medicine manuscripts in the Wellcome Collection

This database is not intended to provide comprehensive coverage of the Wellcome Collection's early Hindi medical manuscripts, but rather to highlight samples of the many different genres of literature represented in the collection. We find polished, verse-bound treatises, steeped in Sanskrit learning, such as Nainsukh's Vaidya-manotsava, and single recipes for different purposes. The database is a work in progress, and will over time grow with both more texts and added features.
